About

The same care I gave my own two.

I’ve spent the last fourteen years looking after New York children from their first months at home through their first day of preschool. Most of the parents I’ve worked with were new to it, and much of what I do is help a household find its rhythm: a nap schedule that holds, a baby who takes the bottle, purées made from scratch, a toddler who says merci without being asked.

I’m a mother of two, originally from Mali, and a native French speaker. I’m looking for a full-time position with a family where I can care for little ones and contribute to their development, their education, and their happiness.

To Whom it May Concern:

We are writing to provide a reference for Djeneba Sow, who has been an amazing nanny for our family for more than three years. Djeneba has truly become a member of our family and has had a profound impact on us and our son.

Djeneba joined our family when our son was five months old. As first-time parents, we were extremely nervous to let a stranger into our house to take care of our son, especially during the pandemic. But it immediately became obvious that Djeneba was reliable, trustworthy, and truly cared for the wellbeing of our child. Djeneba has a naturally warm and calming presence that put us at ease, and quickly assured us that our son was in good hands. Beyond inspiring calm, though, we get to see every day how active and amazing Djeneba is with our son. Djeneba consistently goes above and beyond her assigned duties, ensuring that our son is intellectually stimulated, emotionally supported, and physically active. Djeneba is also highly responsible when it comes to health, hygiene, and safety. She took every precaution to keep our son safe during the pandemic and continues to be very attentive anytime he is under the weather.

Over the years, Djeneba has also been extremely thoughtful in our son’s development. Whether she was assisting with crawling and walking, nap schedules, or potty training, Djeneba was always there with encouraging words and thoughtful suggestions. She always deferred to us as parents, but also communicated her opinions well and gave us the helpful push we sometimes needed to ensure our son continued to grow and reach his milestones. Djeneba, a native French speaker, is also largely responsible for our son’s ability to fully speak and understand French.

Beyond being caring and loving, Djeneba does so many other things that keep our household running and made our lives so much easier. She made fruit and vegetable purees when our son started eating solid foods, and has cooked practically every meal that our son has eaten ever since. She does our son’s laundry, cleans his dishes, and regularly cleans, tidies and organizes his toys. We’ve never come home to a messy house, because Djeneba always goes the extra mile.

Djeneba has also been extremely reliable and flexible. Due to work obligations or other personal circumstances, Djeneba has always been available to come early or work extra hours when needed. She’s also helped our household through two separate moves, including one to an entirely new neighborhood.

We deeply regret losing Djeneba, but now that our son is turning four, he will be attending preschool full time. We are confident, though, that Djeneba will always be a part of our lives. I am also sure that our loss will be another family’s tremendous gain. We cannot recommend Djeneba enough and would be more than happy to answer any additional questions you have via email or phone.

Best regards,
Matthew Aglialoro and Jade Harry

To Whom it May Concern:

It is our great pleasure to recommend Djeneba Sow as a nanny. She started caring for our daughter full-time in 2019 when she was four months old. During this time, Djeneba helped us with the many transitions/stages (breastfeeding to formula, solids and naps) and gave us confidence which we appreciated as first-time parents. Djeneba was reliable and trustworthy. She was always on-time and was able to work in our intimate family environment with integrity and professionalism. Djeneba was also very respectful of our family’s cultural traditions and able to follow our family’s reasonable rules.

Our daughter enjoyed her presence as she was warm, kind and nurturing. She truly treated our daughter as if she was her own and shares such a special bond with her. It is clear to us that working as a nanny is a passion for Djeneba. She has a good understanding of the needs and abilities of children. She kept my daughter occupied with activities such as reading, library visits and stroller walks but most importantly for us, we had peace of mind knowing our daughter was safe in her care.

In addition to the child care she provided, Djeneba was always happy to pitch-in and help with preparing baby food, laundry, dishes, and keeping the children’s areas tidy and clean, which proved a tremendous help to me. Among her strengths are her thoughtfulness and efficiency. We simply cannot understand how she gets so many things done in such a short time. She always remembered important dates in the life of our daughter and brought her cards and gifts.

We are deeply saddened to lose Djeneba as our nanny due to the COVID-19 situation. My mom moved in with us and with the strict quarantines commuting became very difficult. We treasure Djeneba and deeply value her contribution to our family.

We sincerely hope that you are quick to give her a position, as her warmth, attentive care, and inviting personality will be sure to endear her to you. Please do not hesitate to contact us by phone or email if you’d like any additional information; we’d be happy to share!

Best regards,
Wilmary and Stefan Guignet

To Whom It May Concern:

This is a fullhearted recommendation for Djeneba Sow, who has been a full time (50 hours/week) nanny to my two daughters. Djeneba has been with our family for four years (starting August 2015). The reason for her departure is that our girls will be going to Pre-K full time starting September 2019 and we are transitioning to a part-time caregiver.

Djeneba started caring for my first daughter when she was 3 months old as I returned to work full time. I credit Djeneba for establishing a strong nap/feeding schedule, transitioning my daughter to solid food, and developing a healthy diet. We welcomed our second daughter in October 2016, and Djeneba became responsible for the care of both girls. Over the course of the four years, Djeneba’s responsibilities have included: feeding, diapering, bathing, establishing schedule (thanks to Djeneba, my 2 kids have the exact same nap schedule!), making healthy homemade baby puree and food, planning activities and playdates, doing the kids’ laundry, and light cleaning. She took initiatives to encourage the girls to get to their next milestones, including sitting, walking, gaining confidence when playing at the playground, learning letters, numbers and colors, coloring, learning to share, and develop good manners. In addition, Djeneba is fluent in French and encouraged French language development every day.

As a first-time parent, I was concerned about leaving my babies in the care of someone else, and Djeneba help me ease into the transition, earned my trust, and taught me about baby care and toddler discipline. Most importantly, my girls love and respect Djeneba, always looking forward to see her in the morning, and running to hug her before she leaves every night.

Throughout the four years that Djeneba was with our family, she managed the care, wellbeing, safety and development of my 2 girls (who are only 16 months apart) with a great deal of patience, grace, enthusiasm and professionalism. We are grateful that Djeneba has been part of our girls’ critical early years and part of our journey as a family.

Please feel free to call me for more information.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Sonia Mondor

To whom it may concern,

My wife and I were fortunate enough getting Djeneba Boly to replace our previous nanny during her maternity leave and can only recommend her without reservations. Our son was 15 months old when she started last September and they bonded very quickly. Djeneba is fluent in French and has a very reassuring style, being herself a mother of two.

We immediately loved the care and attention she gave to our son, keeping him busy at all times, yet respecting diligently the schedule my wife maintains (naps, meals). It was also very comforting to get regular updates/pictures by phone when going to a playdate or to the park. We could come home with peace of mind, the toys were back in place and the baby clothes/dishes cleaned.

Djeneba always goes above and beyond – she would regularly prepare delicious meals for the following week or help with household duties. She took care of our son and apartment the way she would with hers. She adapted quickly to the challenges of a baby becoming a toddler and [his] progress in English and French over the last months is amazing.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any additional questions as you would truly be missing out by dismissing her application.

To Whom It May Concern,

This letter is in reference to Djeneba Boli. Djeneba was in my employ for three years as our sitter. When Djeneba first started my son was four and half years old and her main responsibilities were to pick him up from school, take him to after-school activities, supervise his homework, feed and bath him. I had the utmost confidence in her judgment and maturity, and always felt comfortable leaving my son in her care.

My son always enjoyed Djeneba’s company and would look forward to her arrival. She knew how to engage him in both play and schoolwork as he had homework since pre-school, even through the summers. I could rely on Djeneba to structure the days and related assignments so that all was complete when I arrived home. I was very pleased when there was a notable improvement in my son’s skills between Kindergarten and First Grade based on the work completed that summer.

I feel fortunate to have had Djeneba in our home and would highly recommend her to a family that is looking for a childcare provider that is responsible, hardworking and yet respectful of your house rules.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Sincerely,
Geri Doyle
